Does Medicaid cover Clomid? Im not sure if Medicaid Insurance covers Clomid or not. Does anyone know FOR SURE?

mbrcatz17 replied: "It does NOT. Fertility treatment is ELECTIVE. And most taxpayers would resent welfare insurance - Medicaid - paying huge bucks to get you pregnant, so they could pay MORE huge bucks in prenatal and delivery, and potentially extreme huge bucks, for premature babies in multiple births - which Chlomid is notorious for causing."

Soozie Q replied: "It just depends on the state since Medicaid is primarily state funded. Some states do, some don't cover any "fertility" treatments at all. But you can buy it yourself for around $50/month. And I'm not trying to be rude, but if you can't afford the $50, you can't afford a baby."

sarah314 replied: "I suppose there's no way to say this without sounding rude, but it must be said... If you can't provide all of your own basic needs without relying on taxpayers, you have no business trying to take fertility drugs to try to bring a child into this world for the taxpayers to help you support. Have some respect for yourself and others, for crying out loud."

Custo replied: "Thank God... The answer is NO."

does medicaid in texas cover clomid births/babies? i am no longer on clomid but i was taking it before i got into medicaid program but i was reading around and i came to know that many insurances don't cover clomid births or babies, does that also go for medicaid?

Krista K replied: "im not sure what CLOMID is but YES medicaid in TX does cover prenatal doctor visits and the birth of ur baby.. they cover it fully. You can also get medicaid for your baby once it is born, and medicaid will pay for his/her doctor visits, dental, medical, EVERYTHING."

im on medicare and medicaid.Does these insurances cover clomid? i want a baby so much!

knicname replied: "If I had to guess, I would say no. However, if you pay yourself it might get you thru the Medicare "donut hole" real fast. You'd have to call up Medicare Part D & Medicaid where you live. I hope they do."

summer replied: "first of all, how old are you? just wondering because you said you have medicare, which is usually for senior citizens-or people with disabilities or handicaps. that might make a difference in coverage. i would say that neither would cover this, but i'm not 100% sure. i do work with these insurances, but am not familiar with the infertility part....the simple solution would be to call a representative in your area and just ask if it is covered in your plan...... do you know that you need chlomid? did a dr. suggest it to you? just wondering because maybe if it is dr. prescribed it could make a difference in your coverage also. i wish you the best of luck in your venture, and remember that your baby will come when God decides he wants you to be a mother......*-*"

Custo replied: "no. they don't."
